Breast Augmentation Recovery Overview

The entire recovery process for breast augmentation should take about two months.

You will feel a bit sleepy and sore immediately after the surgery, yet this will start to fade within the next couple of hours.

When you leave the clinic, Dr. Holley will use an elastic band or special bra to wrap your breasts, as this will support them throughout the recovery phase.

During the first few days, you will probably experience a bit of discomfort. To control the pain, medication is often prescribed. Small bleeding at the incision sites can occur, and this is nothing to worry about.

After the initial week, the pain should calm down, and it will either be minimal or non-existent.

You will then have some swelling and general soreness for a few weeks, which will get better over time. Intense physical activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for the three weeks after your breast augmentation, though.

At the two month stage, you should be approaching complete recovery, although this will depend on how effectively your body heals.

Sleeping Position Matters

You may have a little bit of trouble sleeping after breast augmentation if you are someone who sleeps on their stomach.

You won’t be able to do this for the first few weeks. Instead, lying on your back is essential to enable your breasts to heal properly.

You can use pillows to ensure that you are comfortable. You can also strategically place pillows against your side to help keep you in place.

Dr. Holley will also typically recommend that you sleep at a reclined angle, which can help relieve pressure on your implants. This will be explained to you in full when going through the aftercare requirements for breast augmentation.

You can also wear a sports bra while sleeping to help lower the pressure on the incision.

Should you experience any abnormal pain, the best thing to do is get in touch with your doctor as soon as possible.
