Laser treatments are a popular form of facial rejuvenation and are well known amongst Dr. Holley’s patients for their anti-aging and skin rejuvenating ways. Traditionally, laser treatments have been dependent on two modalities: ablative or non-ablative. This is where Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser is different. Halo takes advantage of both modalities—combining the power of ablative laser technology with the gentler technology of non-ablative lasers.

What Is a Hybrid Fractional Laser?

Halo is the first of its kind—never before has a laser combined the benefits the two modalities. To understand the importance of this duality, let us take a look at what ablative and non-ablative lasers are able to accomplish:

Ablative Laser Treatments

Ablative lasers have long been considered the most effective laser treatment for improving significant signs of damaged or aging skin such as fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and uneven pigmentation. The laser works by stripping away the outermost layer of skin. By removing the layers of dull and damaged skin, ablative laser treatments trigger the body’s natural healing response which causes increased collagen production and prompts the skin to restructure and rebuild itself from the inside out.

Of the two, ablative lasers are the more invasive treatment and thus require a more substantial recovery period than non-ablative laser treatments. Most patients experience some mile redness, swelling, oozing, and crusting of the skin that lasts one to two weeks following their ablative laser treatment.

Non-Ablative Laser Treatments

Non-ablative laser treatments are far less invasive—addressing minor skin concerns including fine lines and areas of light hyperpigmentation. Instead of stripping away the skin, non-ablative laser treatments work by gently heating up the underlying tissues without harming the surface layers. Like ablative laser technology, this gentle heating stimulates collagen production.

Unlike ablative lasers, non-ablative laser treatments require little to no downtime. Results, however, are less dramatic and may require a series of treatments.

Halo Is a Unique Kind of Treatment

As you can see, both ablative and non-ablative laser treatments have their pros and cons. When choosing one or the other, patients have had to sacrifice either results or time. With Halo, this all changes. The first of its kind, Halo combines ablative and non-ablative technology into a single laser treatment—all depending on the unique needs of each individual patient. In a single treatment, Halo delivers both ablative and non-ablative energy. This unique combination is able to focus laser energy deep within in the layers of skin to stimulate collagen while leaving the surface of the skin unaffected.

Halo Maximizes the Results, Minimizes the Downtime

With Halo, you can experience the significant results of an ablative laser with the downtime of a non-ablative laser treatment. Halo’s unique combination is skin-specific and gives Dr. Holley the power to personalize each treatment to best meet your needs. Halo can address mild to severe skin concerns including sun damage, discoloration, and uneven skin tone and poor texture as well as visible signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles.
