It’s almost spring, and while the weather is still pretty chilly, it’s slowly starting to warm up. Dr. Scott Holley offers both surgical and non-surgical body contouring options to help you sculpt your summer body.

If you’re interested in learning more about body contouring and whether you’re a candidate, call Dr. Holley today at 269-222-1611 to schedule your initial consultation.

Surgical Body Contouring Options

When it comes to body contouring surgery, there are two main options: liposuction and tummy tuck. Liposuction is a great procedure for men and women who have good skin and muscle tone, and just want to lose a few areas of stubborn fat that have resisted diet and exercise.

Tummy tuck, on the other hand, is a much more comprehensive procedure that can treat:

  • Significant excess fat in the stomach area
  • Sagging abdominal skin, such as after pregnancy or massive weight loss
  • Loose abdominal muscles from pregnancy or inactivity

Both liposuction and tummy tuck can achieve dramatic results in the right candidate. The best way to learn which procedure is right for you is to visit Dr. Holley for an in-person consultation.

Non-Surgical Body Contouring

Dr. Holley offers CoolSculpting as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. CoolSculpting uses a process called cryolipolisis to freeze your fat cells away. It is FDA approved, and has been proven effective in clinical trials. CoolSculpting is the most popular non-surgical body contouring option.

CoolSculpting has the advantage of requiring no recovery time at all. If you wanted to have the procedure done over your lunch break, you could return to work directly afterwards. Other advantages of CoolSculpting include:

  • No anesthesia required
  • No incisions
  • No need for any painkillers
  • Can be more affordable, depending on how many treatments you need

If you have minor areas of excess fat on the stomach, back, thighs, flanks, or upper arms, you may be a good candidate for CoolSculpting. However, keep in mind that CoolSculpting often requires multiple sessions for maximum fat loss, and results are typically not as dramatic as with liposuction.

Dr. Holley can help you decide whether CoolSculpting or liposuction is a better option for you. Generally, if you have larger areas of fat that you want to reduce, liposuction will be better. Liposuction can treat multiple areas at once, and only requires a one-time procedure for dramatic results.

CoolSculpting, meanwhile, can require 3 to 6 sessions per area for best results. Many people find that it’s worth it, whether because they can’t take time off of work for recovery or simply because they don’t want to undergo a surgical procedure.
