About Breast Reduction
Breast reduction, which is also referred to as reduction mammoplasty, is a procedure that will remove the skin, glandular tissue, and fat from the breasts. This makes them appear firmer, lighter, and smaller.
A breast reduction can also reduce the size of the areola, which is the dark skin that surrounds your nipples.
Breast Reduction Recovery
Once you have had breast reduction surgery, bandages or dressings will be applied to the incisions. A support bra or elastic bandage may be worn to support the breasts while they heal and minimize swelling.
Dr. Holley will provide you with bespoke advice on the recovery timeline and what to expect. Nevertheless, we do recommend that you book a week off work following the procedure.
Dr. Holley will arrange a follow-up at West Michigan Plastic Surgery, as well as informing you of any medications you may need to take and how to care for your breasts after you have had breast reduction surgery.
It is not unusual for a thin, small tube to be placed under the skin temporarily to drain any excess fluid or blood that may collect.
