A woman’s vaginal health plays a pivotal role in her sense of self-confidence, sensuality, and well-being. As she ages, her body undergoes a variety of profound changes, some of which affect this highly sensitive area. Vaginal tissues can become stretched, dry, or inflamed, leading to lower levels of self-esteem, lack of intimacy, and even physical pain. A further decline in vaginal health may occur as a result of vaginal childbirth, menopause, and medical events such as hysterectomy or chemotherapy.
The diVa® treatment is a quick and effective procedure that revitalizes vaginal tissues to address a woman’s most intimate wellness needs with minimal discomfort or downtime.
diVa® utilizes a dual hybrid fractional laser, the same technology behind the popular Halo™ facial rejuvenation treatment. Unlike most laser systems, which are classified as either ablative or non-ablative, the hybrid laser delivers both ablative and non-ablative energy in a single treatment.
Ablative lasers trigger the body’s natural healing response and prompt the skin to rebuild itself from the inside out by resurfacing the outermost layer of the skin. Non-ablative lasers work by gently heating the underlying tissues to promote collagen production.
diVa®’s twin laser energy modalities work together for a synergistic effect. While the ablative laser resurfaces the outermost layers of tissue, the non-ablative laser heats deeper layers of tissue to stimulate collagen production. This allows us to customize your diVa® treatment to suit your individual concerns and goals, maximizing your results while minimizing your downtime.
diVa® can help women treat many common problems, including:
diVa®’s hybrid fractional laser technology allows us to customize each treatment according to a patient’s age, concerns, and desired results, making it a safe and effective option for many clients seeking vaginal rejuvenation. Women who have given birth or who are experiencing menopause are ideal candidates. Women who experience urinary leakage during exercise, coughing, sneezing or laughing may also wish to consider treatment with the diVa® system to improve these symptoms. The best way to determine if you are a good candidate is to schedule a consultation with one of our specially trained providers.
West Michigan Plastic Surgery strives to make every diVa® treatment a respectful, convenient and comfortable procedure. During a session, the specially designed diVa® handpiece is carefully positioned within the vagina using an ergonomically-designed, single-use quartz dilator. The dilator remains stationary while the handpiece rotates, administering laser energy with high precision automation technology. No manual positioning is required. The diVa® treatment takes just three to five minutes to distribute energy to the entirety of the vaginal canal.
Most women experience minimal discomfort when undergoing vaginal rejuvenation with diVa®. Because the laser rotates inside the device while the dilator stays still, you will not feel any movement during the procedure. You may feel minor pressure against the vaginal wall and/or sensitivity near the vaginal opening. These sensations are mild and well-tolerated by the majority of patients.
Women who undergo this laser vaginal therapy report feeling younger, more sensual and more confident with their partners. diVa® can improve vaginal tightness, increase vaginal lubrication, enhance sexual arousal and sensation, reduce pain during intercourse and improve the quality and intensity of sexual climax. diVa® can also improve symptoms associated with urinary incontinence. The procedure achieves rapid initial results as well as progressive results that develop over time as collagen production continues to produce improvements.
Most patients can achieve optimal results with three diVa® treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Annual appointments may be recommended for ongoing maintenance.
diVa® is a quick treatment that requires minimal downtime and does not interfere with an active lifestyle. You can schedule a session during a lunch break and return to your routine soon after with minimal to no discharge, spotting, or discomfort. However, we recommend avoiding sexual intimacy or the insertion of feminine products for at least 48 hours to allow for proper healing.
