Get Healthy, Younger-Looking Skin With Minimal Downtime

Your skin loses its natural luster over time, but we can help you restore its natural radiance. Sciton® offers two innovative laser treatments that capture the same rejuvenating benefits of chemical peels. The MicroLaserPeel® and its quick-downtime cousin, the NanoLaserPeel™, can give you smoother, younger-looking, and more beautiful skin.

At West Michigan Plastic Surgery, serving patients from Kalamazoo, Portage, Battle Creek, and Grand Rapids, MI, our laser peel procedures are ideal for patients interested in smoothing wrinkles and improving the overall quality of their skin. We customize treatments to your specific aesthetic goals, whether you are looking to treat the face, neck, décolletage, or hands.

How Does MicroLaserPeel® Work?

MicroLaserPeel® provides controlled skin resurfacing to the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin. The device is held in place during treatment while the computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam around the treatment area. The scanner ensures optimal precision and treatment uniformity.

MicroLaserPeel® removes the thin outermost layer of old, damaged skin cells and reveals vibrant, younger-looking skin. This superficial skin rejuvenation treatment targets mild to deep wrinkles caused by sun damage. In addition, MicroLaserPeel® evens out skin tone, improves texture, and treats actinic keratosis and scarring.

MicroLaserPeel® does not penetrate deep into the skin, so you can expect only minimal discomfort during treatment. Also, because the erbium laser is so precise, it has very little risk of causing scarring or other complications.

How Does NanoLaserPeel™ Work?

NanoLaserPeel™ is sometimes called the ‘weekend peel’ because you can get the procedure done on a Friday, recover over the weekend, and return to work on Monday with healthier, younger skin. The procedure treats mild wrinkles, pigment irregularities, keratosis, scars, and sun damage.

Using a computer-guided scanner, we move the laser beam over the treatment area. The erbium laser’s light energy precisely ablates the skin cells responsible for wrinkles and other irregularities that give the face a tired, aged look. New skin cells grow as the skin heals, resulting in smoother, brighter, more youthful-looking skin.

While other procedures such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion also remove the top layer of skin and trigger new cell growth, the NanoLaserPeel™does more. It gets deep enough into the stratum corneum (outermost layer of the skin) to activate the skin’s natural renewal process. That’s why the NanoLaserPeel™ treatment produces such smooth, glowing skin.

Am I A Good Candidate For MicroLaserPeel® or NanoLaserPeel™?

If you are interested in a less invasive treatment for skin irregularities such as wrinkles, fine lines, and scars, you may be a good candidate for MicroLaserPeel®. We recommend this treatment to patients who are just starting to show signs of aging but are not yet ready for surgery.

Candidates for the gentler NanoLaserPeel™ treatments have mild signs of aging and would like to improve the appearance of their skin. During your consultation, Dr. Holley or one of our experienced estheticians will review your medical history and general health to determine if this is the right treatment for you.

How Long Does A Typical Treatment Take?

MicroLaserPeel® takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the targeted area, while a typical NanoLaserPeel™ treatment takes about 20 minutes.

What Results Will I See?*

You can expect a noticeable change in the texture and tightness of the skin after a MicroLaserPeel® treatment. Your skin will look smoother, healthier, and more vibrant when healing is complete.

With the NanoLaserPeel™, you will notice an improvement in the tone and texture of the skin within 2 to 3 days of treatment.

Although you can get excellent skin rejuvenation results with just one laser peel treatment, the number of sessions you need will vary based on your aesthetic goals.

Is There Any Downtime?*

Immediately after MicroLaserPeel® treatment, you may experience some mild redness and swelling, and the treated skin will peel away within 3 to 4 days. Most patients can return to work once this happens, but this timeline varies depending on the depth of treatment.

Similarly, you may have mild swelling and redness after a NanoPeelLaser™ treatment, and your skin may feel as if you have a sunburn. Peeling and flaking start 1 to 2 days after treatment, and the dry tissue will give way to fresher, healthier skin.

Your skin will be very sensitive to sunlight in the first few days after a laser peel. It is extremely important to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when going outdoors.

Benefits of MicroLaserPeel® and NanoLaserPeel™

MicroLaserPeel® can be fine-tuned to fit the unique needs of each patient. It is a mild to moderate treatment that can be adjusted to a more superficial procedure with practically no downtime or a deeper procedure that requires 3 to 4 days of downtime.

NanoLaserPeel™ is a gentle procedure, making it a great introduction to laser resurfacing for first-time laser patients. The procedure appeals to many people because it’s quick, convenient, and requires very little downtime.

Like the MicroLaserPeel®, the depth of a NanoLaserPeel™ treatment is customizable. It’s, therefore, possible to choose how gentle or aggressive the peel will be. As a result, the treatment can be set at just the right depth to fit each patient’s lifestyle and aesthetic goals.

NanoLaserPeel™ and MicroLaserPeel® treatments can be combined with other cosmetic procedures to enhance skin rejuvenation results. The minimal downtime required after a laser peel makes it ideal for people who have little time to spare for recovery after a skin rejuvenation treatment.
