Enhance The Size and Shape Of Your Breasts

Women considering breast enhancement generally assume that breast augmentation is all that’s needed to improve the appearance of their breasts, but that’s not always the case. A breast lift is often recommended for women that also have droopy, sagging breasts.

At West Michigan Plastic Surgery, Kalamazoo, Dr. Scott Holley performs breast augmentation with lift for women that need to improve the size, shape, and position of their breasts. Dr. Holley finds performing breast enhancement surgery exceptionally rewarding because of the positive impact it has on a woman’s confidence and quality of life.

What Is A Breast Augmentation With Lift?

Combined breast augmentation and breast lift (also known as augmentation-mastopexy) restore the overall size and shape of the breasts. It is highly beneficial for women that have experienced changes in their breasts due to pregnancy, aging, or significant weight loss.

  • Breast augmentation or augmentation mammaplasty increases breast size using silicone implants, saline implants, or cohesive silicone gel implants, aka gummy bear implants.
  • Breast lift surgery or mastopexy lifts and reshapes sagging breasts by removing over-stretched skin, tightening the surrounding tissue, and elevating the nipple-areola complex.

Breast augmentation with lift is a complete breast rejuvenation procedure that leaves the breast looking perky and more youthful.

Candidates For Breast Augmentation with Lift

Women with sagging, droopy breasts that lack adequate volume are good candidates for a breast augmentation with lift. Candidates should also be healthy, nonsmokers and have realistic expectations about surgery.

How Does It Work?

Combined breast augmentation and breast lift is an outpatient procedure that is usually performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the complexity, surgery can take anywhere from 2-3 hours.

The breast lift portion of the procedure elevates the breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and areola. This will require one of three surgical approaches; circumareolar, vertical “lollipop”, or inverted-T “anchor”. Breast implants can then be placed either above or below the muscle through the breast lift incisions.

During your consultation, Dr. Holley will recommend the technique that is most suitable for you based upon your breast skin laxity, the size of the implants, and your aesthetic goals. Use of Vectra 3D photo analysis has proven invaluable as a tool to help visualize your choices and expected results.

Results

The breasts will look fuller and firmer immediately after surgery, but full healing and final results won’t be seen for several months.

Recovery

Recovery after a breast augmentation with lift varies depending on the extent of the procedure, but patients should expect at least one week of downtime. During this time the chest will be tight, and there will be some swelling and bruising in the first few days after the procedure. Discomfort is minimal and readily controlled with oral pain medication. Patients can usually return to work within 7-10 days, but full recovery can take up to 6 weeks.
